These steps make it possible to “copy” the current Flex site with data and structure.
Exporting Flex sub-site using Central Admin > Backup section – you will do a sub-site export to create a cmp file.
- First create a folder on the Server and make sure it is shared with Read/Write privileges for the Admin account you are currently using. You will use this folder as the repository of your current Flex site export file (files).
- Go to Central Administration > Backup and Restore > Granular Backup > Export a site.
- Go to the Site Collection that contains Flex. Only Export Flex sub-site. You will need to navigate Flex sub-site selection option, address the sub-site down to Flex level.
- The Path for your file name will be the Share Folder you created – you can use local drive path such as:“c:\mynewfolder \iacFlex.cmp”. The “iacFlex.cmp” will be the name of the export you will be creating.
- Use Full Security setting.
- Use all Versions from the drop down options.
- Clicking Start Export will start the export process. You will be taken to a monitoring page, hitting refresh on that page will report when the timer job export will be complete and successful.
- Depending on the size of the original Flex site multiple sequenced cmp files may result (default cmp file size setting is 24 MB), these files are all required. Zip them up for transfer to the location we give you in # 9.
