As much as having good views at your fingertips is an advantage, having too many views can be cumbersome. Train users on how to create personal views is a good strategy for reducing views that all users see.
One of our approved third party products is a great help because it allows for filtering on fields that are not present in the list, whereas with SharePoint you must keep the columns on the page that you wish to filter on.
In SharePoint, there are two useful filter ‘functions’: [Today] and [Me]. The first one refers to today’s date and the other represents the person who is currently logged in and using the view.
