The properties in this category contain the List mapping, column fields and views to be displayed within the Sub-Grid.
List Name
The List Name is mandatory. You must specify the List that will contain the data presented in this Sub-Grid.
Title
This optional field allows you to specify an alternate title for the Sub-Grid instead of the List name. This field can be left blank if no change is required.
Additional Caption
A Caption can be added that shows up under the List Name/Title. This is a great way to help users understand what the grid is used for.
View Name
The Sub-Grid can display items from a specified List View instead of the related parent List Name. Use this on dashboard/web part pages. (This is optional)
Use the “Show/Hide Views” link to see what Views are currently set up for the List.
Display Columns
This is a list of the Field Names that are to be displayed in the columns of the Sub-Grid. Each field must be separated by a comma. Example: Field1, Field2, Field3
Use the “Show/hide available columns” link to easily select the values.
Display Columns Horizontally
This is a great feature to control data being displayed. Columns listed here will override the ‘List Name’, ‘View Name’ and ‘Display Columns’ properties above.
List the fields from the Parent list (in this case Opportunities) using a comma separator as usual. Results are displayed in a Sub-Grid web part.
In the example shown below, we are using this setting option to display the Sales Forecast in a Sub-Grid on an Opportunity Display Form.
The data being displayed in this example includes the Column fields for the Opportunities list (2014, 2015, etc.)
Column Widths
(optional) Use this section to specify custom column widths (in pixels) to be applied to the columns for each value that is displayed in the Sub-Grid. If left blank, the columns will be auto-sized.
Note: If the data contained within a Sub-Grid column exceeds the specified column width, the text will wrap to the next line.
Hyperlink Column
The default hyperlinked column is always the first column. If the first column suits the requirement then make no change to this setting. This setting allows you to designate a specific column field as the hyperlink to view the item.
Leave this setting blank if you wish to use the default.
Show Account/Contact as Hyperlink
This Sub-Grid setting option controls hyperlinking to the Account and Main Contact items from the Sub-Grid. In some cases, you may not want the user to be able to select a hyperlink from the Account name or the Main Contact name that has been added to the Sub-Grid for display purposes only.
If the “Hyperlink” property is not specified in the Sub Grid properties, the first column will be used to open the item.
The Advanced Settings “SubGridAccountColumnIsHyperlink” and “SubGridMainContactIsHyperlink” control the default settings for all Sub-Grids on a site-wide basis. With this configuration you are given the option to override the Advanced Flex Setting for this specific Sub-Grid.
Note: If the Sub-Grid does not contain data from the Account/Main Contact field columns then there is no need to use either of these optional settings.
