The Data Refresher is a Windows application that we’ve developed to update data between parent and child items. For example you could use the Data Refresher to tackle situations like the following:
- Update a column value in a Contact based on an Account’s column value. An example would be whether the Account was a Prospect or Customer.
- Update a column value in an Opportunity based on an Account’s column value. An example would be what Industry the Account was in.
- Setting the Main Contact when an Account list has been imported.
One of the ways that we pass data between lists is through our Copy Up and Copy Down functions which are enabled upon the creation of a new item. When existing data needs updating, the Data Refresher is required. Review the following sections for more details on each of the current 3 processes the Data Refresher manages.
