A Task is an activity that has a due date and sometimes – as in project management tasks – a start date. Tasks are “reminders”, a “heads up” or a “to do” and not a scheduled meeting, which is a Calendar Item.
The Due Date for a task is usually flexible – such as “call Bob sometime before Friday” or “send Sue the Estimate this week”. This is different from a Calendar Item (meeting) which has a scheduled start and end time/date.
Users can assign Tasks to all relevant list items of Flex (such as Opportunities, Cases, Contacts, Projects, etc) for themselves or for others. These Tasks stay with these Child items but also appear at the Parent item level (ie. Account).
Tasks stay in an Active status until they are completed, making it easy to run reports on uncompleted actions that should have been taken with customers and prospects.
Tasks can be connected to a specific Interaction where it is useful to see that a Next Step Task is in place.
Note: the Task icon showing on the Interaction Display form. See Interactions section for details on setting up the connection of an Interaction to a Task.
