Behavior

The “Behavior” section of the Web Part Properties enable configurations that impact how the Grid behaves. Scroll down this section to review these options.

Use Grid as Read-only Display

“Use grid as read-only display” is great for those situations where it is necessary to display related items but should not be edited (for viewing purposes only.) When this optional property is selected, the grid will not display any other manipulation items (create new, delete, etc.)

Allow Adding New Items

This property controls the ability to create new items from the Sub-Grid. If selected, the “Create Another” link will appear in the Sub-Grid header:

Do Not Show Current Displayed Item

This property is selected by default as it will apply in most situations. It prevents the item’s Display Form that is being viewed from appearing in the Sub-Grid. For example, if your Display Form contains a connected grid on an Opportunity, it does not make sense to have the parent Account appearing in the Sub-Grid as well. However, should your needs require it, the check mark can be removed to allow the item to appear in the Sub-Grid.

Show Direct Child Items Only

By default, all child items roll up to the Account level. This optional property, if selected, ensures that the Sub-Grid contents only include items directly attached to the list being shown on the Display Form.

Example (see image below): By default, the Interactions Sub-Grid on the Account Display displays all Interactions related to the Account (A), regardless of which child level items they are connected to (i.e., Contact, Opportunity, Project, etc.) With this setting applied, only the Interactions directly attached at the Account level (B) appear on the Sub-Grid:

Note: If you have applied this property yet it does not seem to be working, check the properties in the “Connections” category also to ensure the “Also Show Connected Items” setting is NOT selected.

Show Parent Record

This property is not commonly required but if a situation occurred where it was handy for the users to see ALL types of accounts in the Sub-Grid regardless of one also being in the Display page you can use this setting, but the default is off.

Of course, this only applies to Sub-Grids displaying the same data as the Parent. For example checking this box on a Sub-Grid displaying Interactions will enable the display of all Interactions for the Account.

Allow Items to be Moved

This property enables items within the Sub-Grid to be moved to another Parent item. Any child items attached to it are also moved. Moving Contacts from one Account to another can be facilitated with this function.

Note: The “Move Items” feature needs to be enabled for the List via an Advanced Flex Setting “MoveItemsAllowedLists” (refer to “Move Items” in the Configurable Features section of this guide for further information.)

When this property is enabled, select the check mark on any line item within the Sub-Grid to display the “Move Items” link.

Go to List View from Title

This property enables the Sub-Grid Title to serve as a hyperlink to the default view for the list unless there is another view specified in the “View Name” property (see “Lists and Columns” category.)

The user can simply click the Sub-Grid Title to go to the list view:

Do Not Create New for these Lists

By default, the Sub-Grid will allow users to create new items from those appearing in the Sub-Grid as specified in the Advanced Flex Setting “CustomMenuItems” This web part property overrides the Advanced Setting value and restricts the creation of new items (such as an Opportunity or Task) from the Sub-Grid for any list indicated here:

Example: The Opportunity Display form below contains a Sub-Grid titled “Stakeholders” that contains Contact items.

Note: the Quick Action Create Task icon appears in the options:

In this case, you would probably NOT want users to create a new Task directly from the Sub-Grid because it would then be attached to the Contact and the Account, but not the Opportunity itself (A):

Entering the list name “Tasks” into this Sub-Grid property would disable the Create Task option. The user then can create the Task either directly from an Interaction or from the Action Bar, and, therefore, it is connected to the Opportunity, Contact, and the Account (B).
