The Flex Importer/Updater is a comprehensive and full-featured Windows application that imports new data and updates existing data in SharePoint Flex.
The Importer component can be used to import and connect child items to parent items. For example, importing a list of people into a Flex Contact list which connects to Account items.
It can import standalone list data that can be automatically connected using a code system and optionally purge existing data while replacing with new data. An example would be Sales History attached to an Account record using an Account Number.
The Importer can provide duplicate checking and automatically create folders for items such as Accounts.
The Importer has a mapping section where SharePoint user names are automatically assigned to names in a spreadsheet. For example where an Account list may contain an Account Manager from a third party system and these names must now be converted to SharePoint user names.
The Importer can also prompt the user if a duplicate is found and multiple duplicate checks are available for contact list importing.
The Updater component can be used to update existing Flex list data as a one-off or configured to automatically update on a scheduled basis.
The Flex Importer/Updater connects to a SharePoint site via Web Services and can be installed on any computer that has a connection to a SharePoint site.
