If users experience an issue when opening PDF files they are presented with an option to Save but not Open the file, please review this section for a resolution.
Note: This is for 2010 only and is a restriction put in place by Microsoft.
The following Advanced Setting overrides this behavior as follows:
Setting Name: AllowDocumentsToOpenNotSave
Setting Value: True
Additionally, you may have to follow these steps as well:
- Go to Central Admin.
- Click Manage Web Applications.
- Click on the Web application you want to Change and find “General Settings”.
- Scroll down the page to locate “Browser File Handling”.
- Change the Radio box from Strict to Permissive.
- Click OK.
Note: PDF files can now be opened without saving them first.
