In a typical relationship, a “Contact” is a person that is related to an Account (Company). In more general terms this type of relationship can be viewed as a child item to a parent item. However a Contact Item could also be a standalone Individual list item (search the “Standalone Parent List” section for more details).
We utilize the SharePoint “Contact” list in order to take advantage of the features inherent in this list type that connects to Outlook.
