15. Display Forms & Pages

Every Flex List item has a Display Form which also contains an Action Bar and in most cases (although not all) Sub Grids, which make up a “Display Page”. Shown below is an example of an Account Display Form and it’s associated Sub-Grids which make up the Display Page.

There are many design elements available to enhance Flex Display Forms usability including changing colours, collapsing (pinning) headers/sections, displaying field values from parent items and sizing headers/values.

Note: Some of the common elements that appear on various Display Forms within SharePoint Flex include:

  1. Action Bar
  2. Display Table 1
  3. Display Table 2
  4. Pinned Section (collapsed)
  5. Sub-Grid
  6. Collapsible Sub-Grid
  7. Sub-Grid displaying Totals

Within the two tables in the Display Form, many combinations of convenient shortcuts and hyperlinks can be utilized as shown below. These include Action Icons to create, edit or view related Flex items; hyperlinks to send email, edit existing field data, or visit external websites; and copy-to-clipboard functions.

The Sub-Grids on the Display Page show data for related or connected Child items. For example, the Account Display page contains a Sub-Grid for Contacts, Interactions, Opportunities, Connected Accounts, Projects, Tasks, Calendar Items, Documents, Emails, and can contain many more (or less, if you want!)

The Display Form for each list is unique, depending on the type of item it is. For example, Display Forms for Tasks, Interactions, Notes and Calendar Items do not generally have Sub-Grids but they can be presented on the page with multiple Display forms for better readability as show in the Task Page below.
