Add Attachments

Attachments are files that are directly attached to a Flex item (such as an Interaction, Campaign, or Task) and do not roll up to the parent item. The attached file(s) are saved as SharePoint attachments and are accessible from the hyperlink on the item’s Display Form.

Attached files are not saved to a Document folder.

Note: The ability to “Add Attachment” is a default setup for Interactions but can be added to any New or Edit Form as well as the Action Bar.

Note: This feature is different from the “Upload File” function which saves the file to the Document Library. Refer to the “Upload Files” section under Documents and Templates for further information.

Configuring

  1. Either add (if you do not have this Setting) or Edit to add additional lists to the following Advanced Flex Setting:

Setting Name: AllowAttachmentUploadOnNewEditForm
Setting Value: [List Name(s)],each on a separate line

  1. Next, locate the Display Form(s) for the List(s) you wish to apply this feature and click to Edit.
  2. Under the Configuration tab, scroll to the bottom under the Table 2 section check the “Show Attachments” option.

  3. Click OK to save changes.
  4. Next, go to Advanced Flex Settings.
  5. Locate the “ActionBarItems” Setting for the List to add the Attach File value to.
  6. Add this line: “Attach[br]File|attachfile.gif|nolist” and save the Setting.

  7. Reset the cache for this change to take effect.

Save Attachments in Email

The Outlook Plugin can also save email attachments with Interactions. This function can be configured to automatically save attachments when an email is converted to an Interaction or left to the users discretion. (See the “Outlook Plugin section and its subsections for more details.)

Troubleshooting

If users try to upload a large attachment at the same time they create a new item they might find the system slows and the screen will just spin. It is better in this case to create the item first and then upload the item afterward.
