A Choice column is one of the most useful types. You can have single or multiple pick choice columns

Note: Multiple Pick choice columns cannot be grouped in List Views.

Adding a Blank Row to Choice Fields

SharePoint’s choice fields create a problem for the situation where a choice field value is selected and then a blank needs to be applied. In this case, use the following steps:

1. Go to the column choice list in question.
2. At the first entry on the list do a return to creating a blank space.
3. Inside that blank space place your cursor and press and hold down the ALT key while typing 0129 on the NUMERIC KEYPAD. This will enter another type of “blank character” that SharePoint cannot wipe away. Enter about 3 or 4 of these “blank Characters” on the same line.
4. In the Default Entry setting does the same.
5. Save and you are done. You now have a blank entry at the top of the drop down list that defaults to it and cannot be wiped away by SharePoint.
