Column Management Tips

Note: To learn how to Add New Columns to New, Edit and Display forms, see the section on New/Edit Forms and it’s sub-sections and the section on Display forms and it’s sub-sections.

  1. The Toolbar item “List Settings” is only available to Administrators or Full Control users. Add users to the Privilege Setting “AllowListSettingsMenuUsers” to grant access to column fields. See section on Permissions and Privileges for more details.
  2. Until you are very familiar with the fields in Flex its best to add an “x” at the start of every field you do not require. This method ensures that you do not remove a Flex-required Field.
  3. When existing fields are modified it is only necessary to modify the Display form as New/Edit forms will automatically pick up the changes.
  4. SharePoint column fields have both an inner field name and a display name. Some of Flex fields require the inner field name to be exactly such as the export to Outlook field names.
  5. Determine the best field type for the requirement by considering how you want to use the Field data being collected.
