Configuring
This setting manages whether the feature is on or off or whether ONLY certain lists have in cell editing enabled.
SettingName: DisplayFormAllowIncellEdit
SettingValue: true/false (default is false) OR a list of LIST names where this is allowed (each on a separate line)
In Cell Edit Exclusions
There are a number of exclusions from the In Cell Edit function of Flex as noted below. The following list itemizes the types of columns that will not be presented to the user as In Cell Editable.
- Not available from the Item Summary form
- Column is read-only
- Column is date type and time is specified
- Column is named in “Edit column exceptions” web part property
- Column is “CompanyID”, “ContactID”, “OwnerID”, “OwnerModule” or “Date Created”
- Column is named in the [ListName]DisplayFormLinkExclusionslink” setting
- Column is “Main Contact” (as it is made of Name and Phone Number, email, etc)
- Column is “Status” or “Date Completed” and the list is “Tasks”
- Column is “Last Interaction”
- Column is “Email Link”, “EmailLinkID”, “FollowUpAppointmentId”, “FollupUpTaskId”, “NextTaskID”

On the form the tooltip over the column name will tell you if it can be edited on the form or it needs to open the edit page as additionally a reason if it can’t be edited on the page.
In order to prevent additional columns from being In Cell Editable, add them to the Exceptions list in the Web Part configurator for the specific Display Form.
Multi Text Fields
Multi Text columns behave differently than standard columns. When the value is clicked it will open an editing form.
Permissions
To manage permissions for who has access to In Cell Editing add the following Setting:
Setting Name: DisplayFormIncellEditAllowedUsers
Setting Value: A list of users
If this Setting doesn’t exist or is empty, then all users will have access to this feature.
