Please read the following instructions before performing the first time install of Outlook Plugin on a user’s workstation. This installation should only be performed by an Administrator or a User with Admin Rights.
Unsupported Environments
For assistance in evaluating support options for the Plugin in unsupported environments, please schedule a meeting with the LookOut Technical Support Team at support@lookout-software.com.
We do not support the Plugin within a Terminal Services or Citrix environment. Although customers do use it within these environments, it is neither tested nor officially support by LookOut Software.
Technical Details
Please review these technical details prior to installation.
- The Plugin must have direct access to the SharePoint site for authentication. It does not have a separate authentication method for a Gateway, VPN or another secondary login method.
- The Plugin Installation requires free access to the Microsoft VSTO and Microsoft visual studio 2010 tools for office runtime (x86 and x64) downloadable components from their respective Microsoft websites.
- When using the online Plugin Update service (to “call home”) the process requires unrestricted access to our Update website. The update process gets triggered if Outlook is restarted after an Outlook shutdown.
- On occasions, the Plugin may “disable” itself during the update process because of some updating interruption or other Add-in conflict. This situation can be resolved by manually enabling the Plugin within the Outlook Manage Add-ins section.
- The Plugin can only be used to target one Flex site at a time. Flex site address must be properly specified in Flex Plugin Credentials Settings.
- The use of a Domain designation in the Plugin authentication Settings may be required.
- The Plugin installer currently supports Outlook 2010, 2013 and 2016.
- Plugin functionality is not available on Outlook for the MAC, however, the Windows version of Outlook can be run on the MAC using the appropriate software.
- The Plugin installer requires that the user is able to install software on their local system.
- The Plugin update site will automatically install the following applications via the Internet. Ensure your Firewall makes these sites available:
-
- • Update.2010crm.com
-
- • Go.microsoft.com
- • Download.microsoft.com
- Outlook users initiate the operation they wish to use which then sends the email to Flex via SharePoint Web Services.
- The Plugin works with Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS). ADFS is a software component developed by Microsoft that can be installed on Windows Server operating systems to provide users with single sign-on access to systems and applications located across organizational boundaries.
