Show/Hide Action Icons

Depending upon how many Action Icons are configured to appear within a Sub-Grid, sometimes this can take up a great deal of space. This enhancement allows you to hide the icons and have them appear in a pop-up window upon mouse over.

There are two ways to apply this feature. It can be configured to only certain individual Sub-Grids by editing the Sub-Grid properties, or it can be applied to all Sub-Grids on a site-wide basis.

To apply to individual Sub-Grids, place the Display Form you wish to modify in Edit mode.

  1. The Web Part Editor will open (on the right side of the page). Scroll down and select the ”Icons and Links” category to expand:

  2. In the Action Icons section, select “ShowOnlyWhenMouseOverLink”:

(The other options in the choice menu are “Use Settings Entry” which is the default setting Site-Wide, or “Always Show”.)

  1. Select “OK”, then “Stop Editing”.
  2. Repeat this process to apply the desired icon behavior to as many Sub-Grids as you wish.

To apply the configuration to ONLY show Action Icons with mouse hover across all Sub Grids add the following Setting:

Setting Name: ShowSubGridActionIcons
Setting Value: False

Note: The “Send details via Email” icon will appear on all Sub-Grid items if the List is configured to allow the “Send Via Email” feature.

Hide All Sub-Grid Icons

The Action Icons for Sub-Grids can also be hidden or shown on a site-wide basis by way of the Advanced Settings. The setting instructs Flex to ‘hide’ the icons by default, therefore the icons will only display when the mouse hovers on the hyperlinked field.

Setting Name: ShowSubGridActionIcons
Setting Value: True

This Setting is optional. If you do not wish to make changes to the way Sub-Grid action icons are displayed in your Flex site, there is no need to add it.

Note: The previous name for this Setting was “SubGridHideIcons“. Either Setting will work.

Sub-Grid Upload File

Upload a file directly from the Documents Sub-Grid with this feature developed Fall 2014. Upon clicking the “Upload file” link, the user is presented with one of two outcomes:

  1. If a Document folder or related subfolders(s) already exist, the user will be presented with options to select which folder to upload the file to, as well as an option to select a Content Type. After making the selections, the user can click “Browse” to select a file to upload:

  2. If no Document folder exists for the item, one will automatically be created and the user is given the option to Select a Content Type and can then click “Browse” to select a file to upload:

A confirmation message appears after the file is uploaded successfully.

  1. Edit the properties of the Sub Grid.
  2. Locate the Behavior section and Icons and Links section (shown below).
  3. Check off the options shown.

  4. Click “OK” to accept these changes.
