You should have advised everyone involved in the implementation long ago that this day was coming. It’s best to get everyone excited about the benefits the system will have for everyone. Start this long before this day arrives!
It’s quite possible (or even likely) that once the system has been in use by everyone for even a short period of time, that there will be more tweaking required.
Check in with your users periodically throughout the first few weeks and months to ensure there are no questions. Often users will not ask questions. They will expect that things are as they are and that is not the case with this product, so they may not ask. You will need to ask them directly – even sitting with them – and asking what can be improved or if there are any processes that they find cumbersome. Sometimes they don’t know a faster way to achieve a step that when shown, creates a much happier user.
- Ensure that all users are aware of the Go Live Date long before it comes.
- Set up training and support protocols.
- Check in with users periodically for feedback.
Be prepared for a number of things to happen even though you had a Pilot group testing the system. Once everyone gets onto a new system there are going to be questions and people will start to do things in ways you had not considered previously.
