The “Search & Create New Wizard” is a configurable feature that can be added to the Dashboard or to the Quick Launch making it easy for users to create new items at any location in your Flex site.
New items that are created from the Wizard can be child items (such as Interactions and Tasks) or Parent items (such as Accounts, Leads or Campaigns).
Each new item can have its own search criteria. Let’s explain:
- When creating a new Activity list item (such as Interaction, Meeting or Task) you will want to show results that include all parent items that are allowed for that item (such as Accounts, Contacts, Issues or Opportunities).
- When creating a new Parent list item that could have existing items (such as an Account or Lead) you will want to search the existing parent list to ensure you are not creating a duplicate.
- Some lists, such as Campaigns, do not require a search, the user simply wants to create a new item regardless of the items already created for that list.
All of the above scenarios can be managed within the Wizard.
Not only does the Wizard make adding new items easy for users, it plays an important role when setting up new lists because these can also be embedded into the Wizard.
