14. Audit Log List

The “Audit Log” list logs details on New, Deleted and Edited Flex items on a continuous basis and adds a reference for these actions to this list (except for Documents and Emails at this time). The Audit Log has a Setting which defines the timeframe where items will be automatically deleted.

Note: With the update of December 2017 the Audit Log will now track when the user Edits, Saves and Displays any item. This will support coming GDPR requirements.

New Flex Audit Log

All current Flex sites should have the Flex Audit Log already set up. If your sites “Audit Log” is called “CRM Audit Log” then it may need updating. Go to the Advanced Flex Setting list and see whether the “Enable audit logging” option is checked.

If this option doesn’t exist, then your site needs updating or you can continue to use the original Audit Log, but please note that the original “CRM Audit Log” does NOT automatically delete items. You can also check your site content to see if you have both the old and new Audit Logs. In this case you may remove the old one.

  1. When the “Enable audit logging” is checked for the first time a Flex Audit Log list will be created automatically.
  2. Two settings will also be automatically created. They are shown below for your reference:
  3. The default timeframe assigned to delete items is 60 days. To adjust this timeframe, use the Advanced Flex Setting “AuditLogItemLimitDays”.

Changing Quick Launch Address

  1. If you have an old Audit Log available from the Quick Launch, you will need to replace the link address to the new Flex Audit Log. Go to Site Contents and locate the newly created Audit Log.
  2. From List Settings you can access the Web Address. Copy the web address for the new Audit Log to be pasted into the Quick Launch Settings.
  3. Go to Tools/Site Settings.

  1. Select “Quick Launch” from the Look and Feel section. Choose New Navigation link and paste the new Audit Log address into the Web Address, add a Description for the Quick Launch and select the section for it to appear under. Here we have added our Audit Log to our Resources section.
