Create New and Search Manager

This new Setting was released in the March 2016 update.

The “CreateNewAndSearchManager” Master Setting replaces the “QuickSearchListsAndFields” Setting, the “[ListName]CustomMenuItems” Setting and the ConnectionSearchListsViewsAndFields Setting. This is a complex setting. Please ensure that you have the syntax correct or things will not work.

This setting manages a whole array of functions inside Flex. Please review this section completely in order to understand the breadth of this Master Setting.

1. List Name

Add the list name as the first item.

Note: This is the actual list name such as Accounts, Organizations, Opportunities, Projects, Contracts, Contacts, etc.

2. Searchable Columns Separated by Commas

Add the field names (columns) that the user would search by when this list item is called up. If the list item is an Account the searchable column would be “Account” or “Organization” (whichever term you are using). If the sought out list item was an Opportunity or Project the searchable column could also be “Account” but it may be a custom field name such as “Project Name”. This will depend on how your Flex site is configured.

3. Create New Feature Exceptions

Currently the exceptions include: “plugin”; “quicksearch”; “subgrid”; “custommenu”. This list will be expanded as time goes on. The purpose of this item is to allow you to prevent certain features from being created. If you don’t want to create any exceptions put “none” in this section.

4. Users/Groups Allowed to Create Item

This section contains any users or groups that should be prevented from creating new items for this list. Each person or group is separated by a comma.

5. Child Lists of this Parent

This section contains all the child list items related to this Parent. For lists such as Interactions, Tasks and Meetings there may be no child lists related so this section will be left empty.

6. Column Name to be Used for Link

In the Quick Search results there is a Column Field name that is used to link the result to the Display Page for that result; enter that Field name in this section.

7. Display Columns

This section contains all the field columns that will be displayed in search result areas such as the Quick Search Results and Connection Search Results.
