Convert Lead to Account

When a Lead is qualified and converted to a prospective Account, a Contact and Opportunity (optional) items are also attached to the new parent Account item. There is a mapping process that takes place to ensure that the fields entered into the Lead item are properly copied over to the new items.

The Convert Lead Cross-Check feature will prompt the system to check for existing Accounts with similar spellings to prevent duplicates (if this feature is turned on – see next section for details).

After the Convert to Prospective Account button is clicked, the New Account, Contact, and Opportunity (if checkbox was checked) are now created.

The only lists which will be converted are the following:

  1. Lead Item
  2. Tasks
  3. Interactions
  4. Meetings
  5. Documents
  6. Emails

After the Lead is converted to an Account, the original Lead item is deleted and sent to the recycle bin. To change this behavior, refer to the “Removing / Deleting Converted Leads” section of this Guide.

Configuration

The fields in the Leads list need to be mapped to associated fields in the Accounts, Contacts and Opportunities lists in order to convert correctly.

Setting Name: UpgradeLeadCompanyMapping
Setting Value: [Account Field Name]=[Lead Field Name]

The “UpgradeLeadCompanyMapping” Setting contains all the fields that will copy from the Lead to the Account item when the Lead is converted.

Setting Name: UpgradeLeadContactMapping
Setting Value: [Account Field Name]=[Lead Field Name]

The “UpgradeLeadContactMapping” Setting contains all the fields that will copy from the Lead to the Contact item when the Lead is converted.

Setting Name: UpgradeLeadOppMapping
Setting Value: [Account Field Name]=[Lead Field Name]

The “UpgradeLeadOppMapping” Setting contains all the fields that will copy from the Lead to the Opportunity item when the Lead is converted.

Note: Ensure that the field values and naming conventions are precise. If the columns are not the same type on both lists (i.e. Text, Numeric, Date, etc.) then the values may not convert properly.
