There is an old adage that nothing worthwhile ever came easily. This adage happens to be especially true when it comes to finding, implementing and making productive use of a CRM solution. Many software companies place a lot of emphasis on how easily their software can be configured, and how, once configured, easy it is to use. Although this is sometimes true and sometimes an effective sales pitch, in reality, implementing and making the most of a software solution is rarely as easy as most sales people would like you to believe.
I want to emphasize that nothing worthwhile ever came easily. That is not to say that configuring software to fit your company’s needs is impossible, or even particularly difficult, rather, it is a process, one that will require your full attention and a desire to make the most of your investment.
Look at it this way - if you’ve never played the guitar before - and you pick one up, you will probably struggle to create harmony at first. However, if you dedicate some time every week, or better yet, every day, you will be able to make the instrument do what you want in time. Implementing a new CRM solution is much like learning to play a guitar - in that it will take some time and effort to turn the guitar into a song and the CRM software into a fully functional business solution. The fact is, it’s not easy to make the most of every situation, interaction or opportunity, but it is certainly worth the effort.
Dedication and Determination Count
As Winston Churchill once said, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” Dedication, determination and hard work are what separate those who try and give up, from those who tried and failed, and tried and failed better, and tried again and again until success was inevitable.
If you want someone to tell you that there is a one-size-fits-all solution to your company’s needs, there are plenty of sales people willing to tell you what you want to hear. Keep in mind they will do this to sell you something for the sake of the sale.
With so many different companies vying for your attention, take a moment to ask yourself, what is important to you? A brand name? A hearty sales pitch? How about working with a team of committed individuals that are wholeheartedly dedicated to making sure that you’re not only making a software purchase, but rather gaining a partner? A software partner that will not just work for you, but will be the right fit for the needs of your business.
No software will instantly make everything easy, but it can help improve the way you do business by providing a solid foundation for your team to work together, smarter, and not harder. This is accomplished through collaborating and integrating information and workflows to achieve the results you desire for yourself and your business.
